Sound familiar?
Homeschooling in New York means teaching your kids, and then proving you did. Here's where that second job usually hurts.
Due by August 15, or within four weeks of getting the district's form.
How Excelsior helpsYour planned subjects and materials are already in Excelsior. The IHIP generator is Coming at launch
Hours, material covered, a grade or narrative, all from memory.
How Excelsior helpsYour quarterly is drafted from what you actually ticked off. You review it and file it.
Hours added up by hand, a week at a time.
How Excelsior helpsHours count as you confirm work, toward 900 (grades 1–6) or 990 (grades 7–12), with what each week needs from here.

How it works
Plan the week, teach from Today, and the same ticks fill your Log, your hours and your quarterly report.
Set up a weekly template once. It becomes real weeks you can drag around when life happens. Lesson plans and materials sit in the Syllabus.
Today shows what's happening now and next for each child, and what's waiting for you to confirm.
Finished work goes into the Log, day by day. Hours and days add up on their own.
When the quarter ends, a draft report is ready, built from your Log. You check the figures and file it.

Records & reports
Hours, days and subject coverage are counted as you confirm work. No adding up at the end of the quarter: just where you are and what each week needs from here.
Excelsior Homeschool is record-keeping help, not legal advice. You file your own reports, and every report reminds you to check the figures with your district first. [PENDING LAWYER REVIEW]

Subject coverage
For the kids
Each child gets their own page, designed for under-13s. They see their day, tick off their work and tap "I'm done". Stars, medals, badges and celebrations follow, and nothing counts until you confirm it.
Each child picks their own card and sees only their day, as big, tappable steps.
A tap sends a request. You confirm it on Today, or send it back with a kind note. Confirmed work goes into the Log.
A star for every finished subject you confirm, and a celebration when the whole day is done.
The 10th and 100th day of school, halfway through a workbook, or a goal you set. Your child sees only the next one, so progress counts up.
One record, two happy audiences. Every badge comes from work you've confirmed, so the 100th-day badge also means 100 school days in your NY record.
Private by design
No ads. No analytics. No tracking. Your child's page never talks to an outside service.

No ad pixels, no leaderboards, and nothing sold to your children.
Your child's page never talks to an outside service. This website works the same way: even its fonts are served from here.
On their page, a child sees their own day and nothing about anyone else.
We don't sell them, show ads, or share them, and your children's pages talk to no outside service.

FAQ
The questions New York parents ask first.
We can't promise how any district will respond. NYSED says that a home instruction program that adheres to the standards of the regulations at each stage of the process should be deemed to be substantially equivalent
(Home Instruction Q&A #37). The quarterly report lays out each piece the regulation lists, so you can check it before you send it. See the sample. Not legal advice. [PENDING LAWYER REVIEW]
